May 20 - Florence

WAITING FOR CHIANTI CLASSICO IS

A Black Rooster treasure hunt through the streets of Florence

A treasure hunt in the footsteps of the famous Chianti Classico Black Rooster in the city that, with Siena, represents its most. Meeting at 4:30 pm in the Lungarno Torrigiani public gardens and division into teams of 4 people each and by nationality. Explanation of the hunt and consignment of an envelop with the initial clues. At hunt's end, an aperitif and award ceremony for the winning team

FEE: 30 euro per person, including aperitif.


May 25 – Castellina in Chianti
Pentecost in Castellina dinner under the loggias

The traditional dinner inaugurating "Pentecost in Castellina" is again being held under the town's vaulted loggias. The event will initiate Chianti Classico is in one of the loveliest places in the territory.
€ 37,00 per person.

 

May 26-27 – Castellina in Chianti
Pentecost in Castellina
3 to 8 pm
A weekend of tastings open to the public to sample wines from the southern part of the territory in the context of "Pentecost in Castellina". The event, now in its XVI edition, is organized by the Castellina Vintners Association in cooperation with the Consorzio Amo Castellina (I Love Castellina Consortium). The vintners will be present for the tastings, for direct contact between wineries and final consumers.
The wine can be sampled only after purchasing a tasting glass from the reception desks at either end of Via delle Volte. Music and handicraft marts will accompany the tastings.

The Black Rooster & Street Food
Back again is the finest street food from all over Italy paired with Chianti Classico wines from Barberino Val d'Elsa, Tavarnelle and San Casciano Val di Pesa. Every evening, from 7 pm, live music will accompany enjoyment of the wine & food specialties.

Homemaker's Trophy
Territorial cuisine prepared by its most faithful interpreters: homemakers in Greve, Castellina, Radda and Gaiole in Chianti. In an all-Chianti cook-off, the housewives in the four towns located entirely within Chianti Classico territory will compete at three events devoted to great home cooking. At each one, diners will proclaim the winning town after tasting the homemakers' specialties.

Flower mart
Piazza Ricasoli becomes a palette of colors enveloped in a magical atmosphere of inebriating fragrances: flower growers and nursery owners return to Gaiole to display their finest products.

The charm of cinema combined with that of Chianti Classico from Gaiole in Chianti for a very special tasting. Free admission, to seating capacity.

Following the Black Rooster legend, on foot
Departure from Castellina and Greve in Chianti – 9 am
A re-enactment of the Black Rooster legend in two pedestrian routes that will rewrite history. As for the medieval knights, departure will be at cock's crow, from Castellina and from Greve in Chianti. The two groups will meet in Panzano for a finale lunch at Dario Cecchini's "McDario" restaurant; the winning team will be given bottles of Chianti Classico.
30 euros per person. Extra costs: round-trip shuttle from Florence or Siena, 15 euros per person.
Non-participating accompanier lunch at McDario: 20 euros.

Tours
Tours exploring the different spirits characterizing Chianti Classico wineries. A guide will accompany you through a day devoted to the Black Rooster and its birthplaces: castles, abbeys, big and small wineries amidst art and the Sangiovese credo on a tour that includes visits to three different wineries.
