The national holiday of “Liberation Day" is on April 25th; at Panzano the
celebration of “Festa della Stagion
Bona” goes back to the past
with a traditional event by the Il Grondino cultural association a costumed
parade, evoking the cruel legend of Gherardini and Firidolfi that took place in Panzano in the
14th Century. Cruel events of the past become a celebration day thanks to the
sarcastic nature of Tuscan people. During the event the village goes back to
Middle-age with a costumed parade, a trial in the main square as well as fire
eaters, a medieval market and food stands. The fair begins with a dramatic
piece about the fight between the two ancient Families and the
trial; this parade ends in Piazza Ricasoli, where a big buffet is organized
with typical products of Tuscan tradition and, of course, Chianti Classico as our big star!
